Inclusion Lead Officer Appointed

West Riding County FA have recently appointed Asad Qureshi in the role of Football Development Officer (Inclusion).

In this newly created role, Asad will be tasked with increasing participation with people from underrepresented groups and supporting clubs and leagues with inclusivity across the county. The role will consist of building strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the game whilst also identifying new and exciting opportunities to help more people play football on a regular basis, including Walking Football, Just Play and recreational football.

Asad has been involved with grassroots football in West Yorkshire for a number of years and previously won an award for Contribution to Sport and Play in the Halifax area. He helped to form a grassroots club in Halifax aimed at giving opportunities to young people not involved with the game and helped to extend this to other sports including cricket, mountain biking and basketball.

Asad holds roles with the FA including working as a Level 1 and Level 2 tutor and as a Coach Mentor. He is a UEFA B License qualified coach and hopes to complete his FA Youth Award in the next 12 months and has coached at various schools, colleges and clubs across the region. Asad is excited to be joining the WRCFA team and says he is looking forward to getting out and helping the people who work tirelessly across the region to make the grassroots game enjoyable and to make the game inclusive and accessible to everyone.
