A small sided football match

5 a side Ramadan League

Based at 3GI Soccer in Halifax!

West Riding County FA will be piloting a 5-aside League in partnership with organisations in Halifax aimed at providing opportunities for those people observing Ramadan to continue to take part in football at a time that suits them during the Islamic Holy Month.

The 8 team league will take place every Friday for 4 weeks, starting on Friday 18th May 2018 with games taking place between 12.30am and 2am.

Tariq Hussain, owner of 3Gi Soccer, an indoor football facility in Halifax said “We are happy to open up our doors at this time because we understand it is hard for those people observing Ramadan to play football during the day. By letting teams play between 12.30am and 2am it allows people to take part in fasting as well as allowing them to go to the mosque to take part in congregated prayers.” The Himmat Project, a local Charity based in Halifax, will be providing staff members to support the sessions and West Riding County FA would like to thank 3Gi Soccer for allowing use of their facility during these unsociable hours. It is hoped the league will act as a catalyst for future leagues across the County.

If you would like to take part in the league or would like some further information, please contact Asad Qureshi, Football Development Officer (inclusion) on asad.qureshi@westridingfa.com or 0113 282 1222 (option 3).
