Rainbow Laces Weekend In West Riding

Rainbow Laces Weekend In West Riding

Teams, Leagues and Officials across West Riding will be supporting the Rainbow Laces Campaign this weekend by wearing brightly coloured rainbow laces in their respective matches.

Rainbow Laces is a campaign led by Stonewall UK promoting LGBT+ equality within sports as homophobia, biphobia and transphobia remain an underlying issue.

All around the UK, people have been wearing rainbow-coloured shoelaces to show their support for LGBT+ people in sports and the 1st and 2nd December will see grassroots football in West Riding show its support.

Asad Qureshi, Football Development Officer (Inclusion), said “There’s been a great response from people wanting to get involved with this campaign and we expect it to grow year by year”.

We would like to thank all those supporting the campaign this year and teams wearing laces this weekend include:

  • Wigton Moor Ladies
  • Nidd United Ladies
  • Bradford City Girls U18
  • Leeds United Ladies U16 & U18
  • Scarborough Ladies U18’s
