SUCCESSFUL FEMALE COURSES

August saw West Riding FA run two female courses, the FA basic referees course and the FA Level 1 in Coaching Football course.

Both courses were available at a discounted rate due to funding from
The FA, aiming to increase the number of female coaches and female referees in football.

20 females enrolled on our referees’ course and are now fully qualified. 18 females booked on our Level 1 in Coaching Football Course with all 18 completing the course.

The female courses proved to be yet again a huge success as female courses earlier in the year were also well attended with 29 attending the FA Level 1 in Coaching Football course and 26 on the referees course, all receiving fantastic feedback from the learners.

Steve Conboy, Women & Girls Football Development Officer at West Riding FA, said “Momentum is really building in West Riding at the moment as far as the female game is concerned and the interest in the 4 female only courses, delivered this year, is clear evidence of this.

Increasing the number of females coaching and refereeing is another brilliant way of increasing the number of role models for young girls looking to start their journey in football or to further their development in the game whether that be in a playing, coaching, refereeing or general volunteering capacity.

We fully intend on building on this momentum to further increase the opportunities for females in our county so there has never been a better time to get involved.
