Jack Tolson & Brian Mallinson Presented With FA 50 Year Service Award

Congratulations to Jack Tolson and Brian mallinson on receiving the FA 50 Year Award


Jack Tolson

Jack's involvement in grassroots football started when he played for Heckmondwike Grammar school old boys. in 1969.He remained involved in the club for 20 years taking over as Secretary when he finished playing and held the post for 10 years

He became a referee in 1979 and referees in the Spen Valley League, Heavy Woollen Sunday League, and the Heavy Woollen Junior League. His greatest refereeing contribution being to the Yorkshire Old Boys League later becoming the Yorkshire Amateur League where he continued to referee until February 2020. He represented the League at the Leeds RA during this time.

 

Brian Mallinson.

Brian began playing in the 1960s , playing for Gilder Hall, Savile Arms, Wasps Nest, Springhead Celtic and Airedale Celtic. Brian spent much of his time at Airedale Celtic becoming Secretary in 1985 until 2010 when the club dissolved. Brian attended Spen Valley League meeting and was invited to join the management Committee and became a life member in 1998.

He represented the Spen Valley League on the Heavy Woollen FA from 1999 to 2000. Brian worked for Kirklees MC as a groundsman and took great pride in maintaining the pitch at West Mills playing fields where Airedale Celtic played their home games. . Brian has contributed a great deal to Grassroots football in Mirfield  as is a well known and popular figure in the football circles.
