Harrogate Town Win The Buildbase FA Trophy

Five hundred and six days after Harrogate Town played in the first round of the Buildbase FA Trophy against Hartlepool they played in last seasons rearranged final this afternoon against Concord Rangers at Wembley Stadium and a goal from skipper Josh Falkingham was enough to secure the win for Town.

The final which was streamed live on BT Sports was Harrogate Town’s second appearance at Wembley Stadium within a year after winning the Vanarama National League Play-off Final last August which saw them promoted to the EFL for the first time in their history.

Unfortunately, due to Coronavirus restrictions the fixture was played behind closed doors.

Town played in their new all-black strip which will become their third strip in next seasons Sky Bet League Two campaign.

The first half saw Town dominate but were unable to find the opener.

Harrogate’s veteran striker Stead went close with a curling effort on the 17th minute after some good work on the right wing by Burrell and again in the 22nd minute saw Burrell and Stead link up, this time an inviting cross from Burrell found Stead who headed over.

Harrogate nearly got the opener in the 25th minute as the ball got whipped in from the left by Jones and it squeezed it's way to Muldoon who couldn't quite get his feet sorted. However, he still managed to force Haigh into save from a few yards out.

Town striker Stead in the 37th minute unleased a shot which was deflected but man of the match Haigh managed to use his leg to make the save and keep the game goalless.

There was a great chance for Concord to take the lead in the 55th minute but Cawley’s close range effort was fired over the bar.

Town started to really push on and in the 65th minute a good ball from Town skipper Falkingham found substitute Beck who’s shot was blocked from close range.

Town finally took the deserved lead in the 76th minute after skipper Falkingham followed in Muldoon’s shot which hit the post.

Everyone at West Riding FA would like to congratulate everyone at Harrogate Town on this fantastic achievement.
