Ramadan & Charity Iftar Here at WRCFA

Muslim’s across the world are looking forward to the start of the Holy Month of Ramadan this week which will see them fast (abstaining from food and drink) during daylight hours.

This year, fasting will be from around 3am to 9pm each day, one of the longest and most physically demanding Ramadan’s for decades, and for many it is a time for reflection and spending time with family. The FA has produced a factsheet about Ramadan for 2018 which you can download below.

As part of our 2018 Good Causes Programme and in recognition of the part Muslim’s play within the football community here in West Riding, we will be hosting a Charity Iftar (fast opening) on Sunday 27th May here at Fleet Lane, Woodlesford, LS26 8NX. The event will include a 7 aside football tournament (starting at 6.30pm), and the provision of food/drink at fast opening time (approx. 9pm). The event is being held in partnership with the Al-Ajar Foundation, a Halifax-based Mosque and Charity who are raising money for an orphanage in Morocco. The Al-Ajar Foundation will do a small presentation on the evening to highlight the work they are doing and where donations will be sent.

If you would like to take part in the tournament or wish to attend the fast opening then please contact Asad Qureshi, Football Development Officer (Inclusion), asad.qureshi@westridingfa.com or 0113 282 1222 (option 3).
