Successful Female Referee Course

West Riding FA ran a Female Only Referee course this month at Castleford Academy which saw 26 trainee Referees participate.

The course was available for a discounted price due to the ongoing commitment from The FA, West Riding Girls Leagues and the Leeds United Foundation to increase the number of Female Referees in West Riding.

We would like to thank them for contributing to the bursary.

Mark Haywood, Referee Development Officer at West Riding FA, said “We are really pleased with how the Female Referee course went.

It’s something we’ve not done to this extent before and we are proud of everyone who took part.

We would like to wish the 26 trainee Referee’s all the best in their 5 games and on their Refereeing journeys in the future”.

Some existing West Riding Female Referees will be mentoring the trainee Referees as they start their refereeing journeys to support them and be on hand for any questions or queries they may have.

We would like to thank Emma Taylor, Melissa Cairns, Sophie Christian and Lucy Haskell for all of their help in mentoring the trainee Referees.
