Powerchair Football CPD Added To 18/19 Programme

POWERCHAIR FOOTBALL CPD ADDED TO 18/19 PROGRAMME

West Riding FA is delighted to add another brilliant CPD to their 2018/19 programme, ‘Powerchair Football: Teaching the basics’.

This CPD event will offer an insight into the game of Powerchair football. Coaches will be able to interact with Powerchair football coaches and players and learn the techniques of the game. This will include passing, shooting, defending, dribbling, ball control and match play.

The session will start at 6.30pm with a demonstration of the game for visiting coaches to observe and build a range of questions regarding the game and techniques required to play the game. The remainder of the session will be broken down into 4 sections running concurrently showing the different techniques and skills, how players learn and how coaches need to adapt to meet the player’s needs. The practical sessions will run until 8.30pm when a Q&A session will be held plus if time allows a chance for coaches to have a go!

Coaches are expected to interact by offering progressions within the session and reflecting on their own experiences to affect their coaching when working with players with a disability.

The session will be led by Paul Gorman, Head Coach at Leeds Powerchair Football Club, assisted by other LPFC coaches and FA Coach Mentor, Paul Evans.
