Mum's CAN Play Football

Mum’s Can Play Football

In 2017 a group of mums’ from Methley United decided to prove their son’s wrong when it was suggested to them that “Mum’s can’t play football”.

They were inundated with expressions of interest from mums at the club and within no time at all they had arranged weekly training sessions with over 15 mum’s taking part each week. Take a look at the following video to hear their story.

The next step for the Methley United Mum’s was to find groups of similar ability to arrange some friendly fixtures with.  The first club to reply was Brighouse Juniors who had started something similar with a group containing a mixture of mum’s and existing players at the club.

This momentum has now continued with Rothwell Juniors forming their own weekly training group and within a few weeks they teamed up with Methley United to take part in their own mini festival.
