West Riding Clubs & Leagues Lead The Way In The Fight Against Discrimination In Football

West Riding have the highest number of clubs & leagues that have signed up to the Kick It Out Equality Charter in the whole of the country with 119 clubs signing up and 10 leagues signing up to support the fight for equality in football.

Arran Williams, Norther Grassroots Officer at Kick It Out, said “West Riding has a broad demographic and it’s fantastic to see such a broad range of clubs & leagues committing to thinking about equality, diversity, inclusion and anti-discrimination within their clubs and leagues.

What has been prevalent is the outstanding dedication to EDI and anti-discrimination that some clubs and leagues have told us about.

By putting EDI and anti-discrimination at the top of their priorities, clubs & leagues are starting to make sure the game is enjoyed by everyone.”

The equality, diversity, inclusion and anti-Discrimination space has always been a really important focus for us as a County FA but definitely one that we can build on further. 

With the support of the leagues and clubs that have already signed up as well as those that are still to do so, we can really start to push forward to ensure that we are offering the right opportunities for all individuals to access safe and enjoyable football, but also ensure that cohesion is at the forefront of everything that we do as a County FA."
