West Riding FA Inclusion Advisory Network Now Recruiting

West Riding FA Inclusion Advisory Network

West Riding FA are committed to creating safe, respectful and inclusive environments for everyone who is involved in the game across the county, celebrating diversity and challenging discrimination.  As part of this commitment, the CFA have been awarded The Equality Standard for Sport, Preliminary Level; a framework which guides sporting organisations to achieve equality.  One of the areas of work that drives the Preliminary Level is a 3-year Equality Action Plan which outlines our intentions as a County FA to deliver on our commitments.

However, we cannot do this alone.  To ensure that we deliver on our vision, we need your help and would like you to become part of our Inclusion Advisory Network (IAN).

What is the Inclusion Advisory Network?

The IAN is a group of individuals whose expertise lie within equality, diversity and inclusion and the nine protected characteristics. The role of the network is to support West Riding FA and ensure everything we do is inclusive and accessible for all.  It will be the principle advisory group to the County FA Board of Directors in regards to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and will help the County FA reach out to new communities and organisations to provide everyone with the opportunity to be part of the game in West Riding.

Who can get involved in the IAN?

Anyone who has an interest in supporting the County FA to deliver on their commitment of a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for everyone in the game.  Whether you are in a voluntary role or a professional role, or have experience that would be useful to us, we really want to hear from you.  You don’t have to be actively involved in football to join the network, but a desire to support us and impart any knowledge that you may have around Equality, Diversity and Inclusion would be welcomed.  The membership of the network will be fluid, meaning that anyone can join at any time and those who are existing members will be encouraged to extend the invite to others within their own networks.

How do I get involved in the IAN?

What are the time commitments involved in becoming a member of the IAN?

The idea of the network is that members will act as allies in their respective area of expertise and at points during the year when West Riding needs advice, support or input on a particular subject, they will be in touch.  This could simply be a question over an email or the phone, or if it is deemed necessary, a meeting either over Teams or Face to Face (although plenty of notice would be given and it wouldn’t be mandatory for you attend). There will also be a Teams group set up for the IAN which is a communication platform that will allow us to engage and connect across the network. This will provide opportunities to post questions, good practice examples and share knowledge.

The IAN would look to meet face to face at least twice a year to enable discussion and networking opportunities across the membership, as well as utilising the network to input directly into the Equality Action Plan and County FA Operational Plan.
