The Julie Chipchase Coaching Conference

Continuing Chippy's Legacy

We were saddened to learn of Julie's passing last year – better known as ‘Chippy’ to those that knew her – having spent 15 years working for the The FA in various roles.

Her CV is a long list of achievements and accolades, having made her name with the legendary Doncaster Belles, winning the FA Cup as a player, and managing the side in the competition’s final in 2000 against Croydon.

Her affiliation with the club lasted right up until her passing, having performed virtually every role possible at the Belles since joining as a player in the 1970s, with her most recent role being director of football, while also sitting on the club’s board.

As well as the Belles, Chipchase went onto work with Leeds United and the England Women’s teams, being involved from U15s right through to the senior setup.

In her memory there will be a charity Coaching Conference to celebrate her fantastic work within West Riding and football to continue her legacy of developing both coaches and players.

Suzanne Smith, FA Regional Coach Development Officer (North East) and Conference Organiser, said "I am very excited to be holding this event in memory of our much loved friend and former FA colleague Julie Chipchase.

The inspiration Chippy gave me throughout my career, the belief in myself and where I am today within The FA is through Chippy's mentoring and time, and I believe many coaches will also feel like this.

Chippy always wanted to talk football, and this event I hope will do just that.

Bringing, friends and coaches all together for a day of football, learning, development and remembering our much loved and missed Chippy is something I hope is something she will be looking down on, being proud and smiling.
